The world of Blockbuster is a strange one. Every level is a circle situated in the middle of various environments. You control a hole in the ground that is confined to that same circular map. On every level there are cubes and other objects that are placed differently each time. You need to make them fall into the void by sliding it under them. The goal is to clear the level in the most efficient way possible.
So what prevents one from simply roaming around mindlessly until everything falls down the hole? The thing is some of the objects scattered around are dangerous: the player must be careful to avoid swallowing bombs that can kill you instantly. It can be very difficult to let only the right types objects pass without letting the harmful ones in by accident.
Because of how precise the controls are, the game manages to be pretty challenging without frustrating the player needlessly. The levels are small, but there is a lot of variety in how the blocks are situated: they can be stacked on top of one another forming towers, buildings and other structures that are fun to destroy.
